I know that getting help for an aquatic pet can feel different than it does for a cat or dog. Your fish's health is deeply connected to its environment, and the best way to provide care often depends on the situation. To help you decide what you need, here are the three main ways I can help.
1. When to Schedule a Phone Consultation:
A phone consult is a perfect starting point for non-urgent matters. If you have questions about interpreting your water quality tests, designing a holistic nutrition plan, or getting advice on setting up a proper quarantine tank, this is a convenient and effective option. It’s also great for follow-up conversations after a visit.
2. When to Book an In-Office Visit:
If you have smaller fish in an aquarium that can be transported safely, an in-office visit at Aspen Park Vet Hospital may be the right choice. Bringing your fish to the clinic gives us access to a wider range of diagnostic equipment for a thorough workup if needed.
3. When to Request a House Call:
For koi ponds, large aquariums, or any situation where moving the fish would cause significant stress, a house call is the best option. This allows me to see the entire ecosystem in action; the filtration, the water parameters, and the social dynamics. For a truly holistic diagnosis that considers the whole animal and their world, nothing is better than an on-site visit. This is essential for any urgent concern involving pond fish.
